Wine Tasting Event!

Save the date! Saturday April 16th has been designated for our Spring Tasting in conjunction with the Lakewood-Seward Park Community Club from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. This annual event is always a great way to kick off spring time. Cost is $25 at the door, or you can purchase your admission online at www.lspcc.org/winetasting.html, and receive a FREE raffle ticket for one of the many prizes. Grab your neighbors and friends and join us as we work our way from Prosecco to Zinfandel, and a little bit of everything else in between. Generally there are upwards of 50 wines to sample, with light snacks of cheese, crackers and coffee available as well. Leschi Market also offers a special 13% event discount on wine orders placed that night. We look forward to it, and we hope to see as many of you as possible at the Clubhouse on the evening of April 16th!

Pink! Pink! and more Pink!

April marks the arrival and release of several 2010 rosés. The new fresh and tasty vintages will begin circulating this month. Availability differs for every one, so my recommendation is, find one you like, and stock up, because chances are it is a favorite of many others as well, and won’t be around for those (hopefully) hot August evenings. Some of our early favorites include:

2010 Patterson Rosé ($14) A blend of Sangiovese & Tempranillo, simply delicious.
2010 Syncline Rosé ($16) Rhone varietals + Pinot Noir this year. Always a fan favorite.
2010 Triennes Rosé ($15) From Povence, our #1 selling pink last year.
2010 Domaine Couron Rosé ($8) #2 selling pink from last year, even more limited this year.
2010 Aix Rosé ($13) The tasting team was quite taken with this, it will be a huge hit!

New Hot Buy!

McKinley Springs out of Prosser, Washington has really impressed us with their current releases. We’ve had great success already with their Chenin Blanc ($12), which pairs perfectly with spicier thai food or even sushi, and their Petit Verdot ($18). The wine I must call your attention to is their 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Horse Heaven Hills. This wine is PHENOMENAL. Perfectly aged with great balance, bright fruit, and a smooth-spicy finish. Oh, did I mention it’s only $14? Yup! That is correct. One of the best Cabernet Sauvignon’s out right now. Several customers have returned ordering multiple cases to have on hand in coming months. Think Ribeyes!

Okay, I couldn’t resist putting in a second can’t miss for this month. 2007 Bastide du Beauvert Cotes du Rhone ($8). You may or may not know, but 2007 was dubbed “the vintage of the century” for the Rhone Valley. In fact, one would be hard pressed to find ANY 2007 Rhone wines, let alone one for $8! This little wine boasts big flavor. Consisting of 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah, mellow, if even loose, tannin, yet well balanced with flavors of cherry, strawberry, pepper and cinnamon. Very smooth on the palate and quite satisfying and approachable. Perfect for a weeknight wine.

Happy spring everyone! CHEERS! ENJOY!
